Benefits and challenges of young children using screens

Children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are now more digitally savvy than ever before.  Research shows that children are moving away from watching TV and are now opting for video-on-demand sharing platforms where they can watch cartoons, movies and songs of their choice.

Ongoing research shows there are both positives and negatives developmentally when it comes to using screens.

Benefits:

  • Opportunities to promote creativity and learning
  • Language development
