Parent as Partners

Helping in school

Parents and carers are involved in the work of the school in a variety of ways and their help is greatly appreciated. This includes the day-to-day support that parents and carers provide for their child as they progress through the school and the partnership that is built up through the sharing of information between home and school. Regular meetings for parents and carers and opportunities to discuss their child’s progress, in a variety of forms, take place throughout the year.

Many parents and carers also help on a regular, or occasional basis in the following ways: accompanying teachers on educational visits, helping with art, fabric work, woodwork and cooking, or working with groups, or individual children involved in reading and number activities.

All volunteers are required to complete a DBS check, this is organised by the school office.  Once we have received your DBS certificate and confirmed your identity, we will organise a safeguarding induction with a designated safeguarding lead.

Friends of Hassocks Infant School

All new parents and carers automatically become a member of “The Friends of Hassocks Infant School” (FOHIS) when their child is enrolled. You are warmly invited to join in with any of the social events and activities that are arranged throughout the year. The Friends regularly send out information about forth-coming events organised for the children and adults. Funds raised are used to purchase additional equipment and apparatus from which the school greatly benefits.  Do watch the notice boards!

Further information about FOHIS can be found on their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/fohis/
